If Mr. Brewin succeeds in his application I

recommend Mr.H. H. Gompertz, Assistant Registrar General,now

at home on leave, to succeed Mr. Brewin as Inspector of Schools;Mr. Gompertz expressed a wish for this appointment

before his departure from the Colony. If need be,you can ga-

ther his present views on this subject.
